Planting Melon at Foot of Hengshan Mountain
by Wang Chong
Unfortunately rocky and sandy is my hillside garden, thus I learn planting Dongling's five-color melon.
Everyday I see the bamboo on the rock beyond the stream of mountain, and I love to dot my wattle fence with flowers of vine.
In my pocket there's no magic trick of feeding on clouds, but on the stream I always prepare a raft for my sea legs.
What to do when the days are long and garden in fallow? I just need to hang the book of Chuang Tzu on the horn of my water buffalo.

Regulated Verse in Seven Characters
by Wang Ao
Just met in our own journeys, now we bid farewell in this temple under the Daoshan Pavillion.
Time has passed and world has changed as we look back, all those achievements and honors came to us only so late.
Here we drank free-heartedly in this fiery summer day, but there's already more than ten years missing, when you lived in your niche and I lived in mine.
I hope this August we'd meet again, to intone our poems once more, under the fragrant osmanthus in a small boat on the River Qinhuai.
Zhonghuang and I were best friends during my school time, and since then it's been twelve years. How can I restrain my sentiment at this moment of parting? That's how I wrote this poem. On the ninth day of the fifth month of the year of Bingwu, presented with respect by Hanlin Wang Ao.
